Window Door and Installation

Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to provide flashing detail concepts for window and door openings that give adequate resistance to water intrusion in coastal environments, do not depend solely on sealants, are integral with secondary weather barriers (i.e., housewrap or building paper), and are adequately attached to the wall.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the detailed information about window and door installation from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard ASTM E 2112
• Understand Pan flashings
• Understand Exterior Insulation Finishing Systems (EIFS)
