Using a Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM)

Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to explain the purpose of FIRM’s, highlight features that are important to coastal builders, and explain how to obtain FIRMs.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand what  a FIRM is
• Understand why FIRMs are important
• Know where you can get FIRMS and other information from
• Understand how Flood Hazard Zones and Base Flood Elevations affect coastal buildings
