Course Description:

This publication provides safe room designs that will show you and your builder/contractor how to construct a safe room for your home or small business. The course will also help you answer questions so you can decide how best to provide protection for yourself, your family, and your employee during extreme weather.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the factors in determining safe room size
• Understand the factors in determining safe room location
• Learn what materials are the best for safe room construction based on their strength, durability and/or ability to be readily combined in ways that enable them to withstand the forces of extreme winds and the impact of windborne missiles.
