Maintenance of Trackage

Course Description:

This course prescribes the policy, criteria, and procedures for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing trackage at military installations. This course will also establish maintenance standards for railroad and crane trackage systems and provides guidance for the selection, use, and installation of railroad materials and equipment and track components that will perform satisfactorily.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Be familiar special materials, tools and equipment necessary for the maintenance and repair of railroad trackage.
• Learn methods and procedures for maintenance of track elements.
• Learn common rail defects and failures.
• Understand requirements for maintenance of crossing signs and signals near railroad tracks.
