Landscape Design and Planting

Course Description:

This course provides planting design guidelines for preserving and improving the quality of the visual environment on military installations; prescribes standard practices and techniques for planting and initial care of plant materials; and includes guidance for the selection and establishment of turf.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Determine the most important principle of good planting design.
• Understand the guidelines, standard practices, and techniques for planting and initial care of trees, shrubs, ground covers and vines.
• Know the critical factors in the selection and establishment of turf.
• Learn the recommendations for the major warm-season grasses and the major cool-season grasses.
