Course Description:

 

This course introduces you to structural design criteria for the design of buildings.  Included is technical guidance for buildings constructed of concrete, masonry, steel and wood.  Criteria are also included for pre-engineered metal buildings, slabs on grade, metal decks and welding.

 

Learning Objectives:

 

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the design criteria for earthquake resistant design of concrete buildings
  • Know the criteria for inclusion of expansion joints in buildings
  • Understand the allowable stress design methods for masonry buildings
